An overcast day in November, I met Noelle, from Blueberries & Jellyfish for her personal branding photography shoot day. Noelle is an experienced Women’s Wellness Coach who empowers women to thrive during the peri to post-menopausal years through movement, massage, mindset and nutrition.

Her knowledge is simply incredible. At the age of 49, Noelle is now experiencing the menopause first hand. She’s also spent the last two years studying and training in this area in order to support clients.

With honest and thorough guidance, Noelle creates bespoke programmes tailored for each client’s menopause symptoms.

Noelle wanted to creates some fresh, authentic images showcasing her personality and healthy lifestyle approach and include how she works with her clients. A library of images she could use across social and newsletters and most importantly, for her new website. Knowing customers take just 3 seconds to make a judgement on a website we wanted to make all her efforts count!

I thought the experience was great, Moira’s approach throughout was thorough, professional and made the whole process fun. The pre-session planning meant that she really understood my requirements, what I was aiming to achieve with the images and was able to provide lots of ideas and suggestions to bring my vision to life

LOCATION, PROPS AND STYLING

During Noelle’s pre session consultation we chose two locations for the shoot: Noelle’s home studio and by the sea. Both are key elements of Noelle’s brand and her home studio was beautifully on brand. Even featuring her gorgeous logo on the wall!

Noelle also booked a styling session with Vicky Booker Stylist, ahead of the shoot, creating a cohesive and considered selection of outfits to represent her brand and personality in her images.

Noelle planned her props around tools she uses everyday – from admin to sources of inspiration to her yoga mats and anatomy models!

THE SHOT LIST

Her shot list was based on shared inspiration based on five key images I always recommend for websites (new blog to follow).

With three different set ups we were able to capture some fresh headshots to connect with Noelle’s audience and for that all important ‘about me’ page. Next, images with clients showing what to expect when working with Noelle (expect a giggle or two!) Lastly images infused with personality – things that both Noelle and her clients have in common.

THE SHOOT

Scheduling twice as a result of the great British weather and dreaded double lines we were raring to go.

Her kitchen, with it’s pop of colour and gorgeous flowers, gave us a relaxed and homely backdrop. Just perfect for some must-have administrative shots with her laptop, phone, diary and sources of inspiration as props.

Outfits already laid out in shot list order enabled quick and stress-free style changes between set-ups. With a simple top change and shift to the studio location, we started to capture a range of client and headshot images.

The wellbeing benefits of good nutrition and the great outdoors are completely embraced and endorsed by Noelle. To incoporate these elements we finished up the indoor shot list with some nutritional lifestyle images back in the kitchen. One last outfit change into comfy and stylish fitness wear and we headed off to the very beautiful Emsworth shoreline.

Despite the cloud cover we were able to continue the bright and airy aesthetic for some outdoor shoreline images. More importantly, the tide was out and the rain held off.

Noelle’s positive energy and vibrant personality really shines from her images. Working with her to make her vision a reality was a complete joy!

Can’t wait to see her finished website in all it’s glory? Me neither, so here’s a few of her favourites to tide you over. Browse through to the end for Noelle’s thoughts on her session and some tips she’s shared if you’re planning yours.

How did you feel when you received your images?

I was delighted. They were even better than I had imagined them to be. The range of shots captured met the brief and plan Moira and I had discussed leading up to the shoot.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone thinking about a branding shoot, what would that be?

Plan! The upfront planning, use of Pinterest for ideas, then a shoot plan along with working with Vicky Booker planning the outfits, make up and hair, were key to ensuring the shoot worked efficiently on the day for everyone and we got the shots we wanted.

How have you gone on to use your gallery of images and how (if at all) do you feel it’s impacted your brand?

The images are featured on my new website which is being launched in March. Prior to that I have been using them for social media posts, newsletters etc. The images showcase what I do, what I offer clients and how I work. Most importantly they also show the fun side of working with me. Many of the subjects I cover are deeply personal. Therefore clients need to feel they can trust me and have confidence that I will help them navigate through even the hardest times with a combination of education, empathy and humour throughout.
