‘Autumn has always been my favourite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale’ ~ Lauren DeStefano.

I couldn’t agree more as I prepare for this year’s Autumn sessions – probably my favourite Season to photograph children and families and here’s a few reasons why…..

1. September temperatures are comfortably warm and the last of the Summer sun brings a beautiful mellow light. Sessions can start later in the day and earlier in the evening as the sun is lower in the sky for longer. Enjoy a family photography session making the most of the last of the long evenings. Or perhaps a morning session with the dewey grass and gentle morning mist.

2.  I’m a fan of softer, muted shades of clothing for shoots, but the faded colours of Autumn open up a whole range of clothing options. Add a pop of colour with brighter tones such as mustard, red and maroons. Wear them alone or combine with earthier tones of browns, creams or navy. For inspiration visit my Autumn 2017 pinterest board.

3. Nature displays a grande finale of colour in September, creating the most fantastic backdrop of yellows to fiery red and earthy brown. Did you know that the drier the weather, the redder the leaves will become? Embrace an outdoor session combining it with a picnic or countryside stroll. It will put you back in tune with the Season and you’ll return home with some images full of colour to enjoy.

4. Fun is always an essential element of my photography sessions and playing with the Autumn leaves is pretty much obligatory. Whether it’s kicking, throwing or tumbling in them they keep everyone entertained and make smiles aplenty!

5. With Christmas just around the corner an Autumn session is the ideal opportunity to refresh your family photographs. Not only for your own enjoyment but they’ll also make ideal personalised Christmas gifts. Prints, framed prints and gift portfolios are just a few options to choose from. So tick off a few presents on your list and sit back and relax with a decadent latte in front of the fire knowing you’ve got Christmas organised.
